Strategic UX Leadership for Global MedTech: The SIM App Story.
Orchestrated a dual-track strategy to maintain a global legacy platform while architecting a next-generation simulation experience for 6.5K+ users

The SIM App started as a demo tool for the Omnipod 5 App, but evolved into a global platform used by Sales, Clinical Educators, Product Support, and Health Care Providers.
As adoption increased, the product struggled to scale.
Tasked with stabilizing a legacy 3rd-party platform for global launch while simultaneously architecting the future-state redesign.
I led the UX strategy for the Omnipod 5 SIM App, an educational tool for over 6,500 global users. My challenge was twofold: supporting the global rollout of a legacy third-party version while simultaneously leading the ground-up redesign and MVP definition for the future-state platform."
Discovery & Audit
Inheriting a product with significant technical debt required a deep-dive heuristic audit. I reverse-engineered the undocumented architecture to identify localization blockers that were stalling European market entries.

Reverse-Engineering the Legacy Ecosystem.
To protect patient safety, I merged patterns from existing iOS and Android medical apps to create a dedicated 'SIM System.' This ensured that the simulator felt familiar but was visually distinct from the actual medical device, preventing user confusion in high-stakes environments.
Operational Excellence & Delivery Strategy
Developed a roadmap to resolve legacy technical debt while simultaneously aligning future business requirements with validated user needs.

Archetype-Driven Design
Led the definition of behavioral personas to ensure the simulation met the specific goals of diverse user types, from anxious first-time patients to expert caregivers.

New Delivery Standard
Moved beyond static specs to a "Unified Source of Truth" in Figma—integrating interactive prototypes, logic annotations, and edge-case scenarios.

i.e. Of festure mapping and prototyping for specific scenarios and Operative Systems
This structured hand-off empowered Dev and QA teams to work independently of design bottlenecks, ensuring 100% functional accuracy across all global markets.
Cross-Functional Leadership
I acted as the central strategic link between Development, QA, Localization, and Marketing. By providing 100% testable design logic, I ensured that global releases remained functional across different languages and regulatory requirements
-
Reduced ambiguity in training and demo workflows across sales and clinical teams
-
Accelerated localization and QA validation by prioritizing key scenarios (80/20 approach)
-
Improved cross-team alignment through documented UX flows and annotated deliverables
-
Reduced handoff friction between UX, Development, QA, and Localization teams
Metrics are based on delivery outcomes, process improvements, and cross-team feedback.

MVP Decisions & Outcomes
For the second version the MVP required making deliberate trade-offs between user needs, business priorities, and technical constraints.
The final MVP focused on:
• Core simulation workflows with improved clarity
• Smart Bolus calculation (simulated)
• Alarm scenarios and embedded educational content
• Multi-language and OS switching
This approach enabled:
• A scalable SIM platform for current and future Omnipod products
• Improved clarity and usability for global teams
• Reduced ambiguity for development and QA
• A strong foundation for localization and RTL support
