Product Localization
& RTL Experience Design
Case study for multiple projects | Mobile
(iOS & Android)
Led localization and RTL experience design across global mobile products,
adapting released applications to support multi-language, bi-directional,
and culturally specific interactions without breaking usability or scalability.
Challenge
As products expanded into global markets, existing mobile applications
were not designed to support localization at scale.
Interfaces needed to adapt to:
• Right-to-left (RTL) languages
• Mixed-language experiences (English + RTL)
• Limited device canvases
• Custom Android hardware environments

The challenge was not only visual translation, but also ensuring that
interaction patterns, layouts, and usability remained consistent
and functional across languages, devices, and operating systems.
My Role & Approach
I worked as a Senior Product Designer, leading localization UX efforts across multiple product initiatives.
My role focused on:
• Adapting released experiences to RTL and multi-language environments
• Defining localization-ready interaction patterns
• Identifying key scenarios for testing and certification
• Aligning UX, Development, QA, and Localization teams

I also helped establish cross-functional processes to accelerate translation workflows, screen validation, and market releases.
Layout & RTL adaptation
One of the first challenges was adapting already released layouts to RTL languages within limited mobile screen real estate.

Layouts had to be restructured to support:
•Mirrored navigation and reading patterns
• Mixed LTR and RTL content
• Consistent interaction behavior across languages
Close collaboration with development teams was critical to ensure design feasibility and consistent implementation across platforms.
Localization workflow & testing strategy

To accelerate global releases, I defined which screens and scenarios were critical to validate under an 80/20 approach.
This strategy focused testing and translation efforts on the most impactful user flows, enabling faster approvals for country launches.

Custom Android device & multilingual keyboards
or a dedicated Android-based product running on custom hardware, one key challenge was designing multilingual keyboards supporting languages such as Japanese, Chinese, and Korean.

• Character density and layout constraints
• Android platform and open-source limitations



I designed keyboard layouts, interaction behaviors, and usage guidelines tailored to each language.
Design System for Global Scale
I co-led the creation of an Android Design System
built with localization in mind from the start.
Components were designed to support:
• Text expansion and contraction
• RTL-compatible interaction patterns
• Multi-language typography behavior

This ensured designers, developers, and QA teams worldwide
could implement consistent, scalable experiences.
